Painting and Frame as received for work
Newer rips and tears through a very brittle canvas mean that the painting needs more support
Mold, poorly applied patches, and the canvas HAD BEEN GLUED TO THE STRETCHERS!
Back side, showing prior patches
Painting has now been lined (adhered to a newer canvas) and given a First cleaning. Several more cleanings to go, or until I start getting colors showing on the cotton.
The Frame Repair
This shows where the bottom 3 to 5 inches of original canvas
have beenreplaced and painted in.
Alas, no signiture remained (if there ever was one)
Frame was cleaned and primered. The cast eagles were installed after careful fitting and sizing.

All other damaged sections were fixed.

The entire frame was then again primed, and painted three coats 'Old Gold'
This frame needed 3 new eagles cast, and other sections around the entire frame rebuilt
